skin first, make up second

SKIN FIRST, MAKE UP SECOND – Glossier.
So that's what I've been hanging on to for my skincare and make up routine. I'm a lazy girl, so I don't like to apply make up, but in the industry where I work – looking good is not an option. You have to look at least representable because you have to meet a lot of people from directors, clients, to your peers. So how do I work with my face usually? Since I don't wear a lot of make up and keep sticking to the no-make-up make up look, I figured I need to have a super good looking skin that people would actually think I'm wearing heavy foundation. I do believe to have a good skin is really important tho.. Per your request, here it is.. My beauty regime. Disclaimer: not sponsored, honest review, and my skin is very dry.

SKIN
I wash my face twice a day– in the morning before going out of the house and at night before I go to sleep. I had a time when I have a serious skin issue, I had periorial dermatitis, it looks like acne, but it's not. One time a doctor subscribed me the wrong meds and it got even worse. Thank God my trustee ghetto doctor was so good, he got rid of it in 2 weeks time. I will tell you more about this next time. So right now I'm using Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser to wash my face, I think it's really good, you might feel a bit weird using it tho as it doesn't turn into soapy bubble when you mix it with water. It doesn't stripe the moisture off your face –you know those kind of cleanser that you feel like that your skin is tighter and sort of dry-er after you wash your face? Yes, it's not like that. Another product I love is HadaLabo Ultimate Moisturizing Face Wash
After washing my face, I do the same products for day and night. I start with either LANCOME Energie de Vie The Smoothing & Glow Boosting Liquid Care or THE PIU Antioxidant Complex Booster to start and prep my skin. Notice how both products has "boosting" purpose? I think these products really good for us who have tight schedule that make our skin tired. After that, I use LANCOME Energie de Vie The Refining & Invigorating Intense Lotion or THE PIU Totarol Hydrating Serum. The LANCOME acts as a toner, THE PIU is a serum for hydrating. Right now I'm adding GLOSSIER Super Glow or Super Bouncy –depends on my skin condition. After finished with all the serums, I have 2 favorites for moisturzer– Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream and Glossier Priming Moisturizer

When I have photoshoots, wedding, events, or even when I just feel my skin needs instant hydration, I use sheetmask from Dr Jart or I use LANCOME Energie de Vie The Overnight Recovery Sleeping Mask. This sleeping mask is the bomb, like it's so good you won't believe it's real, the product really deliver its name.

MAKEUP
My base will be Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint. It doesn't work as a foundation so it doesn't have a really good coverage for scars, but it's good to even out your skin tone, and I just like how it's very watery and light. I feel like I'm not wearing anything on the face everytime I put it on. After the skin tint, I do my eyebrows with TOM FORD Eyebrow Sculptor and Glossier BoyBrow. As for the eyes, I use Urban Decay Naked Palette for the shadows and Marc Jacobs Pen Eyeliner or any Japanese brand Pen Eyeliner. I trust my eyelashes to Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler and Maybelline Great Lash Mascara. Sometimes I use my lipcolors as my blush on, other times I use MAC x Proenza Schouler Blush On – or any other coral blush on. Highlighters.. either the CHANEL, MAC, or Glossier Holoscope in Topaz.

I think that's all, maybe next time I'll get into my make up if you guys want :)
Thanks for reading!

when life knocks you down

Hello everyone! So here I am, writing this post at 2:29AM

I decided to name this post "when life knocks you down" – as an ode for confusing things that have been regularly turning up in my life lately

Life is not perfect as we wish or want it to be – life is tough. Life is weird, I think I can say that. Life gives you lemons and expects us to make lemonades without any knifes or squeezer.

Early this year, I found out that my dad's cancer relapsed. It was not an easy period for our family. He was diagnosed with nasopharynx cancer (cancer located at the back of the nose) back in 2011, and in March 2016 for his yearly check up we found out the cancer came back. We were devastated and all hope seems to be so thin. Radiation and chemo are not the way for you to go if you have second time cancer– as the cells are obviously quite strong. Long story short, after weeks of discussing, we decided that the best route is to go to Japan and do a cyber knife treatment. It's not a surgery with knifes and all that, fyi –the treatment delivers beams of high dose radiation to tumors with extreme accuracy and this treatment so far have been successful on patients with relapsed case. Thank God everything went well, the treatment lasts for 3 days and my dad is stated clear again by the doctors in August. He will do another check up in November so let's hope everything will be great :)

Okay so, from what happened to my dad, I learned these few crucial things that I want to share as I've been seeking strength to tackle my life problems;

First, it's the power of prayer. I witnessed so many people (thank you so much!) genuinely care for him and pray for his health. I really believe now that if you pray hard for it, God will gives you answer on His time. It might not be the answers that you wished/asked for, but it will be the best and it will be right on time. He is never late.

Second, is to be positive in negative situation. I can say that I'm a very positive person –but it's fucking hard to stay positive when life keeps on punching you, rite? I'm pretty sure my dad was the most devastated one when he found out that the cancer was back again. But I mean, he did not show it publicly that he's sick or sad. He kept his spirit up, stay positive, eat all the organic/healthy food and drinks that my mom prepared for him (he went on a strict diet recommended by other cancer patient, and still is now. We decided to keep everything clean for him with few cheat days :P). Doctors also said the key to health is your mind –so I guess it's crucial for us to see the good things first rather than what sucks. Let's say "yah.. at least this happened now not later on" rather than "fuck shit then complain complain complain."

Things happen for a reason
You met/crossed path with the wrong people for a reason
You found the right one for a reason
You get what you wished for a reason

At first, it's gonna be hard to see what's good when everything else seems so bad, but when you get the habit out of it, life will become easier, slightly stress-free, and you'll feel lighter. Keep this in mind,

THIS TOO SHALL PASS

Third, be kind. This one is easy, yet so hard. I'm not freaking Cinderella, I have my moments when I dont have the courage and I cannot be kind. As I said, I AM NOT CINDERELLA

Fourth, to try. I am not Cinderella, but at least try to have courage and be kind. You know, life is a wheel, sometimes you go up sometimes you go down. You'll never what hits you, so it's better to spread kindness rather than spreading hate. Help others when you can.

You reap what you sow. So when shitty, weird things happen to you; Don't seek revenge. Just focus on your own shit –seriously if you mind your own business, you won't have time for other things. Improve yourself, do better, and take the high road. Smile and sing it like Selena, "Kill em with kindness".

Finally, be happy and be grateful. Your blessings outweigh your problems.

Stop and smell the roses.

TWIST at Dawn & Willow

Last night I had the chance to join the first ever Indoestri Dinner – TWIST at Dawn & Willow. Five course dish were prepared by Chef Ade Kurniawan and Chef Oscar Widjaja. First, special shout out to @manualjakarta team for choosing me as your giveaway winner. So, I took my boyfriend with me to Indoestri last night and we joined the rest of the guests. We should've sit outside underneath the twinkling lights, but unfortunately it was raining. Hence, our table moved inside. Rustic flowers, linen table runner, and candles decorated our tables, giving it the rustic/garden feel. It was somewhat over 7, they finally served their first dish. It might took a while for the food being served, but the two chefs managed to deliver the taste for each dish.

Our appetiser, the 3 croquettes taste like Gado Gado, Singkong, and Sate Padang. I must say the sate padang one was really good. On to the next one, the frog fritters (as you can see below)!! Prolly the best dish of the night. I just wish they don't have the toothpick as a decoration otherwise I would have wiped clean my plate. The sauces were amazing, there were 3 different sauce– garlic miso, marmalade apple cucumber, and garlic cream. So soo good. Some people said the garlic miso reminds them of that Kanpai (a resto in melbourne) sauce.
Frog Fitters

To the next menu, it's called the "Local Fish" but I assume this was gurame being grilled and hidden under a jelly. Served with some pineapple sagoo and pineapple curry foam. Not my fav, it reminds me of a deconstructed gurame asem manis though.
Last savoury dish is the Pigeon Duo. I'm not a big fan of pigeons cus they taste like "ati/ampla" and I don't really like it. But that one part covered with crushed pistachio is just AMAZING. Simply, amazing.
Pigeon Duo
Last dish! Dessert!! I'm not really a fan of "deconstructed" dish since sometimes I found people overdo it– but I must say, this es teller was soooo good. The jackfruit was still cold and icy it gives a fresh taste into your mouth.
Deconstructed Es Teller
I'm not really good at explaining things –so my review in describing some of the food would be really bad. For every savory dish, they also matched all the food with different kind of mocktails. My favorite one could be the one with the fish, since it was a mix between white grape juice, soda, ice tea, and rose. Sounds yummy right? Also, during the dinner we were being entertained with live music by BINJ. The singer is actually one of my colleague. I'm so so so proud of her!! Finally again, thank you Manual, Indoestri, and Dawn & Willow for an awesome dining experience. Wishing each everyone of you a big success! Thank you and see you around!

I have a steady full time job, in a field that I love – fashion retail; side job that is growing day by day  floristry called @studiojiro; and my blog slowly but sure coming back to life. Outside from those, I have a healthy family (Thank you God!), amazing friends, business partners (who gave me so many new opportunities!), loving (and super patient) boyfriend, super awesome (and expensive) hobbies (diving im looking at u). the weeknd

It's 7PM on a Sunday night.. How are you guys feeling? I hope all of you had fun this weekend! For myself, I began this weekend strong (but it leads to a lot of soreness). Strong means getting "tortured" by Ride Jakarta's chief - Gita on her private class session. Private class includes a 40 minute riding + 15 mins core and arm workout. Intense shit. But the best part it, you get to do it with your friends (with a minimum of 5 people) and request songs! With me, there were a lot of KPOP songs. Even one 4-minute song that I didn't even give/recommend to Gita. I was like whaaat.. Where did you get this song? I guess I managed to drag another girl into the big black hole of KPOP. The usual class provides different kind of song genre with different coach. For 45 minutes, you'll be challenged to run up the hill, ride easy, medium, hard, up, and down. You might feel so tired, but I think it's all worth it. After every class, I feel so happy, I also can see myself getting stronger (hopefully strong enough to start crossfit again) If you're interested in her torturing class, you can check out @ridejakarta on IG (I'm just joking about the torturing part, it's a really fun class. I'm addicted)
Can't wait for next weekend! Ready for the upcoming session. #BikiniBod we're coming!

Sunday morning, I started my day by arranging a bouquet for one loyal client! Tried to make it special for his wife, as she is such a sweetheart! Her bouquet consist of; roses, eryngium, super cute buds of baby roses, carnations, and lots of eucalyptus.

@studiojiro
Finished with all the delivery for the day, me and my fam are ready for Sunday's mass. Since their opening day, I haven't been able to take my parents to St Ali, so that's where we're having lunch. Per Glo's (their chef) recommendation, I decided to get this beautiful dish of salmon. Can I just say? It's so good. Super loving the lightness of it, and the pomegranate just yum yum! My dad opted for "clean eating" (literally) since that's what he can only eat right now. Good coffee, yummy food, and great companion - I feel content and happy!

After one afternoon spending time with my friends and their babies, now I feel tired. Man, age doesn't lie. So here I am writing this, thinking how I will plan my week ahead. So excited, can't wait to get back to riding and crossfit! Wishing you a week full of content peeps! xx

pre-birthday post: #2 favorite things

Hi! Staying home today cus I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Cough and flu not really a good combination. Anywho, I'll be sharing with you some of my favorite things. Like my skin care or whatever. This post is not sponsored, so I really do think these brands rocks, cool, and worth sharing!

Let's start with the first one, lingerie. I find Indonesians are still a bit taboo while taking bout lingerie, but I find them really pretty. Apart from being a tool of seduction, I think they can be a tool for woman to feel confident and sexy. There's a quote by Christian Dior, "Real elegance is everywhere, especially in the things that don't show". See, I feel it's important to wear really nice underwear, it will really boost up your mood. Previously, I've worked at this luxury lingerie brand called Agent Provocateur. From there, my lust with lingerie starts. They have the nicest, most classic, to the cheekiest lingerie I've ever seen in my life. You just have to try it on and you'll know it's different than your regular Wacoal/Young Hearts bra ok. And seriously, who doesn't want to wear lace everyday? Classic - french - lace! You'd be lying if you say you don't feel pretty wearing them.
Unfortunately their price is a bit crazy for something that you don't show, but again.... You get what you paid for.
First Agent Provocateur Bra! The Love Bra
So, my adventurous lingerie journey began from there. I started buying some when they're on sale. They also have a second line with Penelope Cruz called L'Agent by Agent Provocateur. It targets the younger market, so the price is relatively lower but also the lace quality you can tell that is not as good as the main line. But it still holds the melons quite ok. Over the past year, my quest searching for the perfect bralette has been tough. Most of the brands here don't carry wide range of sizes, and when they do they just fit so off. I think it's all because of the AP curse. Once you've go AP, you'll never go back? Then I found something on Cotton On! They have quite cute ones with a very good price. I guess when you just don't care about supreme quality, you can just buy from there.
During my trip to Singapore, I went to COS - and for the love of the bras, man they sell the most perfect bralette ever. You may click on the link. I got 2 in different colors, because I like them too much. At the beginning of the year, I remember I saw a local Indonesian brand start selling lingerie, I checked it out, I was like hm.. they quite nice. Until few weeks ago, I saw the brand again- named Raquel Lingerie on Love and Flair. And I decided YES I WANNA TRY! So I did, and I LOVE IT. And the price is super friendly to your wallet. Luckily, I got the chance to meet the owner and have a heart to heart session regarding the lingerie market here in Indonesia and some other private things (haha!) It's so interesting they've been in the business for so long, so they really care about their quality and it's so nice to see someone who is very passionate about their business. It's like her lovechild.
Honestly, people in Indonesia need to stop looking at lingerie as something taboo. It's just a freaking underwear, it's not that much of a different to a bikini. Such a shame that we can't wear something like those girls on pinterest, low cut shirt with lacy bralettes peeking through (you know which one I'm talking about right!) And for you girls who are discouraged or feel sad about your cup size, don't be. Just be happy and grateful for what you have, cus you gals can rock V-Neck like no one else. You can look super cool without being too showy or sexy.
Raquel Lingerie - The Lucy Bra

Off to second one, SKIN CARE. Lately I've been happy with my face skin. Few months back, I tried the facial at Surface Skin Habit in Setiabudi 2 (right across from St Ali) and it was so good, I keep on recommending it to everyone. I bought a package there, and go there for my monthly facial treatment. So apart from facial, below is the picture of all the products that I've been using lately. PSA: I have really dry & sensitive skin.

Starting from the first row, left to right:
  1.  Aesop Damascan Rose Facial Treatment - it's a serum, you're not suppose to wear this everyday, only twice a week. You can mix it with your main moisturizer. It will definitely hydrate your skin for the longest time. Your face might look a bit of oily afterwards - but it's good. It will look healthy and hydrated. I bought it at ION, Singapore.
  2. Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser - it's a face cleanser. It will not strip off the moisture off your face. It does not make lots of bubbles you was your face. So it will feel weird at first. For Glossier products I bought it in America because they don't provide international shipping.
  3. Glossier Balm Dotcom - Basically it's like lucas pawpaw, you can wear it for scars, lips, and elbow. It's amazing
  4. Kiehl's Lip Balm in MANGO - super fruity smell and very hydrating lipbalm.
  5. Aesop Oil Free Facial Hydrating Serum - also a serum, this is my 3rd and last sample. I'm gonna get a full size, cus I love it and it blends well with the Damascan Rose Facial Treatment. My Aesop Lady said that this serum hydrates your skin without being heavy on your face. And the ylang ylang smell? Just amazing.
  6. Dr Jart Ceramidin Moisturizing Cream - AMAZING moisturizer. Hands down. Before I found this, my face skin couldn't survive the 8-9 hours time inside a super cold room. But now, BADABAMMM <3 Got it from Sephora.
  7. Glossier Priming Moisturizer - Also very good, no smell though, and quite watery. You can build it up without feeling heavy.
  8. Aesop Moroccan Neroli Post-Shave Lotion - I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING. Post-shave lotion? Are you sure? Are you serious? YES. They're the best moisturizer. I don't know why, but my boyfriend loves it, my aesop lady loves it too. And it works and smell freaking amazing.
  9. Aesop Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm - Whose hands need resurrection? Get this one and you'll be free from dry-witchy-hands.

Last one, cause I need to go soon. Perfumes and Candles. For a while now, you might know me as the perfume lover, I did a post on how to search and buy perfume. Le Labo Bergamote 22 is still my favorite and go to scent, I'm on to my 3rd bottle. I've also been alternating between Diptyque and Byredo for formal use. As for candles, I cannot afford to buy Diptyque all the times cus they're expensive so rejoice for Duft and Chandelle! This one in Peonia smells the loveliest :)

Ok. That's all, if you want to ask me more please let me know ;)
I will be giving away some of my favorite products soon. So stay tune!

I will be giving away some cool stuffs. so make sure you stay tune on instagram/snapchat.
BB Sunkissed Hair by @BlowPlusBarID
since my last blog post, i've changed my hair. twice. After the permanent blowout, I dyed my hair!!! The last time I dyed my hair was in 2013; when i was still in Korea. Back then I didn't trust Indonesian stylist to do it, but since I was convinced by my friends from @blowplusbarid that their hair coloring treatment won't do any real-harsh damage, so I did the "Sunkissed Hair" coloring treatment with them and I like the way I look now. I think brown suites me better than black hair? What do you think?

See the "sunkissed"effect?

Only after 2 weeks I dye my hair, I cut it short. I don't what was in my mind really. Me and Mkoes just sort did it. And as usual we took some #KeroKoes shots..

Good bye bad hair day!

Top MORNINGSOL / Jeans PULL&BEAR / Shoes ASOS / Bag CÉLINE
It's Thursday when I wrote this, but it felt like Monday.. But good news is tomorrow is Saturday haha! I think they should make Wednesday is a holiday too, that way we can have a break to relax a bit in the middle of the week. Yeays to traffic free as well!
In this post I would like to share my experience with BlowPlusBar Jakarta. They're a hair salon franchise from Singapore and specialize in giving you permanent blow out while you're drinking wine. How cool is that? And as I've been raging about my disability in styling my hair, I figure this treatment is a LIFE SAVER. I mean, who does not one a #IWOKEUPLIKETHIS hair every day? well at least for the next 3-6 months....
As you can see above, the BEFORE and AFTER my permanent blowout 2.0. Why is it 2.0? Because before they do the treatment, they will apply olaplex —a bond multiplier for hair. So it protects your hair from all chemical products to maintain your hair original condition. Sounds good right. It's been almost a month since the blowout, and my hair is still smooth with no dry ends! So before I begin with the treatment, the stylist really gave me a thorough explanation on the treatment. He checked my hair type, asked me few questions whether I've dyed my hair before in the past months, have I dyed my hair BLACK/hyena before -which is very crucial because apparently if you've ever dyed your hair BLACK or BLEACH before, you won't be able to proceed with the treatment, they even will say no to you. Again, the final result will depends on your hair. Because everyone's hair is different. Keep on reading to know my experience!
snapchat : sergeantkero
This is not my first time, but it's been 4 years since the last time I dyed my hair. Basically everything chopped off and grown already. So it's the real, virgin hair that I had on me. So after they wash and apply olaplex to your hair, they will apply curling solution to your hair and roll up your hair in segments. Then, they put a sponge between your scalp and hair so you won't be able to feel the heat. They're using electricity to heat up the metal roller, as u can see on the pic above.
After 20 minutes, the stylist will check one of the rollers, see if your hair is all curled up. If yes, they will apply another solution. After 15-20 minutes, they will take everything off of your hair and wash it.
Crucial final part, they will TEACH you how to blow dry your hair. It's very easy (even I can do it), you just twirl twirl twirl, dry it with hairdryer and twirl your hair. And ta-da!!! Below pictures are the result of my PERMANENT BLOWOUT 2.0 in BOLD. I absolutely loving it!

Extra tips, purchase a shampoo & conditioner that will hold your curls and protect your hair from chemicals. I'm using KERASTASE SOIN PREMIER THÉRAPISTE and BAIN THÉRAPISTE for shampoo. After mid-drying my hair, I apply the Kérastase Créme D'Huile Oléo-Curl that will help your hair to hold your curl! And please don't go to salon and let them pull and dry your hair, cus it will make the permanent blow out wont last long. So that's it, for more info you can ask me through instagram or the comment below :)
Happy Friday yáll!

Pleats for Monday

So it's Monday again! How's everyone doing? Hope you're doing fabulous and going to the right way to reach for your dreams. Today's post pretty much a throwback to an outfit that I wore few weeks back, wearing my favorite pleats skirt from ZARA. Got this almost 3 years ago when I was still in Korea, I gotta say this is one of the most versatile and chic piece in my wardrobe. Lucky you, I saw similar piece in ZARA few days ago. I guess it's true when they say fashion trends always come back..

I've been busy with my full time job and Studio Jiro. Both of them are having their own details that really require lots of preparation for the upcoming collaborations and event. For studio Jiro, last week I had the chance to arrange for HerWorld Indonesia, can't wait to see it published in April -and also, on Saturday, it was Studio Jiro first ever doing the full bridal package (we've done bridesmaid package before, but this is the first time we did the whole thing; bride, bridesmaid bouquets, groom, brother, & dads' corsages). I had the most fun arranging the bridesmaids and corsages as I find it very therapeutic. What do you think?

DIY: Vetements Jeans

So, for the love of this VETEMENTS jeans that have been bugging my mind since I saw it on pinterest, I decided to do a DIY on one morning. It's been quite a while since my last DIY post (the first one was way back, when I did the shredded tee, leggings, and bleached denim), so I'm pretty excited for this one!
Final Look! Shoes from ASOS
The VETEMENTS jeans will cost you around $1400, that you can buy at FORWARD or SSENSE -but with this DIY, you won't be needing anything other than; your old jeans, scissors, and courage.

Distressed Old Jeans + Fabric Scissors + Courage
Your jeans is preferred to be your old jeans, cus you don't want to mess around to your new / favorite ones, what if you messed up the DIY and you have to cut it even shorter? LOL. Anyways, I would prefer a washed-light-blue color denim with some raw-distresed looking cuts/holes. The scissors can't be just any ordinary scissors, it HAS to be a fabric scissor otherwise you will get frustrated cutting it. So are you ready?
