Stylish and Fit with Raquel

Hi everyone! It's been quite a while since my blog post have so busy with work – mian! However, this month is a very special month because finally.. My latest collaboration with RAQUEL is out!!

What is Raquel? Raquel is an Indonesian womenswear brand. They focus on lingerie & undergarments. Last year I was introduced to try one of their products and after that I'm hooked. I swear by it. You don't need to worry about their quality even tho they have an affordable price point, as the people behind it have been in the lingerie/underwear industry for more than 30 years, so... they definitely know what they're doing. After focusing on undergarments for a while, they decided to explore on activewear. I've been using their activewear line as well, why? Because it's affordable but with good quality. I like to look good when I work out (duh!) and it's hard on the pocket when you want lots of sportsbra from Nike or Adidas or even Lululemon. So thank God for Raquel and it's always great when you can support the locals!

Behind The Scene / Mundane

Happy Monday! Would like to share with you all my most recent collaboration with DUMA – definitely one of Indonesian labels that you are familiar with. For their newest collection called MUNDANE, I picked my favorite pieces, styled it ala me, and stroll around in Jakarta most oldest area, Kota Tua. Saturday Space / ARA

Finally on Wednesday I got the chance to visit ARA – a curated boutique in Kemang featuring Indonesia's most promising labels. I can say, if you in need of clothes for casual smart or even wedding events... This is the perfect place to shop! They have their own webstore, but it's better to visit and try on the clothes right? Besides.. their space is absolutely beautiful. I say, it's worth the trip to go all the way to Kemang.

Located on the 5th floor in COLONY (just right accross Kemchick) – the bright space gives you the right amount of natural lights. So many big windows and mirrors (which I totally love). On this special occasion, Alvin T collaborated by featuring some of his furniture pieces to decorate ARA

Career / The Dream Trip / Part 5

Back to career post with me again...! How's your week so far? I bet it's been awesome right? For me, My mood starts picking up.. I've been feeling a bit under with retrograde is shadowing my sun and moon. But I realized, I should always be grateful and not finding tiny details that I don't like. So stay positive, chin up, and seize the day!

Let's start..

At the end of 2015 – another opportunity arose. I was offered to move to another marketing team in MAP. Was I interested? Most definitely. Why? After working a year with my dream brand (ZARA).. I need a new challenge, a new dream to reach. So my decision was to keep an eye on luxury brands. I know after managing fast fashion– I would want to move to Luxury brands. During those months I had couple interviews, and I had no luck yet. So yes, I did fail on my interviews and it's okay!

Beside having a new dream, my other reason that got me interested to move to the other team is the brands that I was going to handle. I mean, LOEWE? That's one good reason why I should migrate to the other team. Jonathan Anderson debuted his first collection for LOEWE – SS15. The brand was changing, they're revamping the store, basically changing the whole Loewe DNA. I thought "THIS can be my stepping stone, a learning curve to my next career step" so then I took it.

Of course it wasn't the only brand I was handling. I had 7 more (MaxMara, Max&Co, Weekend MaxMara, Swarovski, DKNY, Nautica, and Thomas Pink) but Loewe was the reason why.

Independence Day Dive

Happy Independence Day Indonesia!! On the occasion, yesterday I spent the day diving at Pulau Seribu. Not the first time diving there (already my third time!), however it's the perfect location if you want to do a one day trip dive with no hassle (because it's only 1 hour boat ride away)

Anyways, our main objective for the dive trip was to plant corals. The island for this particular activity is located at Pulau Sepa. It's one of the famous island in Pulau Seribu. They have a decent resort with wide varieties of water sports. After a bumpy and sleepy ride to the island, we geared up and ready to dive!

For a day trip dive, usually you can do a maximum of 3 dives. So yesterday, the plan was dive 1-2 to plant corals, and save the last dive to explore the other dive sites.
Right on the first dive me and Rhein managed to plant the corals, well more like tie the corals with wire to the biorock. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the whole experience. I thought we're going to receive the whole education about corals itself and the 'coral planting' idea in my mind is that we going to cut some corals and place it on the reefs. Apparently it's being done on a bio rock, looks like a steel framework of pyramid or tunnel shape that are being flown and the corals will grow faster. Using the technology, the corals can grow faster by 6-8times. It takes a very long time for corals to grow. So dive carefully!!

Inspiration Tuesday / Links I Love

Happy Tuesday!! We're back to Inspiration Tuesday posts.. Here I will be sharing with you things that have inspired me and in this post, I will share with you all the links where I usually got my fashion / lifestyle news from!

Let's go!!
Why? It's one of the two websites that I always rely on. They post legit news (some sites just speculates like a tabloid), they write reviews in a very simple and understandable english. They have lots of sections that you can browse on – even to runways collections! BOF gives you an easy, understandable, relatable access to fashion. I read BOF daily

Career / The Dream and The Flower / Part 4

Back here on #sergeantkerodotcom – and we're on part 4 of my career journey. Thank you again everyone for reading this, please do not hesitate to email or DM me, if you have questions :)

Rewind to few months back before I got accepted at MAP Fashion 1, it was in end of August / early September.. Sherly just introduced me to Ren, and we were just talking of how boring Jakara life is.

In 2014, my weekends were filled with endless partying and going out. When you go out with your single friends – parties happened. It was not ideal at all, working in retail means your salary is not that high, you get discounts that means you'll ended shopping more (salary goes back to the company), going out every weekend means by now you have no savings.

Basically me and Sherly wanted something new, a fun activity to fill our weekend, and I found it on instagram – Fleuri's Flower Arrangement Workshop. We decided that we're going to do this and I even asked my mom to join us, because I know how she loves flowers.

That weekend I finally met Natasha (Nat) from Atelier Fleuri – she is my inspiration. Nat is the most hardworking florist I know, so creative, she really pours her heart out to her designs. You can totally see her passion through her creation. I just love love love love her.

She inspires so much I ended up loving this new thing I just learned and I thought to myself.. This is fun.. Why don't we make a flower shop? Back then, there weren't many players in the online florist business. so I would say, we were so lucky to start the business at the right time. You know what they say.. Timing is a bitch. Thank God, time wasn't a bitch to us then :)

I think it's very crucial when you want to start a new business. First step that you need to do is to do a research first, who are your competitors in the industry, what can you do to make your business different, what is your product, how to market it, who is your market, and so on. In my opinion, when you have the money maybe you can just start any business you want.. But, without the right knowledge and execution, your business can either go big or go home.

Post Card From / +65 Recap

Happy Monday everyone! Lucky me, I just got back from Singapore for my friend's wedding and today I have to call in sick because I'm right now on my bed writing...er with a very bad flu.

Flew to Singapore on Saturday morning – arrived at the hotel around 2:30PM local time. I've been mesmerised with this beautiful hotel when I visited Singapore last year, it's the Park Royal at Pickering Hotel. The hotel has this amazing vertical garden that decorates the building which I think becomes one of Singapore's 'IT' accommodation location.

Career / The Retail Industry / Part 3

So.. Before I start talking about what's the next step in my career...

I'm going to share you with you a bit of what I know about the retail industry. I'll try my best to break it down, but please keep in mind that I've only worked in retail for.l 5 years, my knowledge might be still limited (Lol didn't realized I've been working for 5 years!).. every company is different, so this is based only from what I know or heard along the years...

Let's begin!
image from: flackstudio.com.au
Some of you are quite concerned whether if you're not a fashion graduate, can you still work in fashion? The answer is: Absolutely. Even when you don't have any background in retail, can you still apply? Definitely – however, please note: please read the 'requirement' section on every job vacancy ads that you see, the HR (human resources dept) definitely will put the "check list". But hey, just try to apply even when you cannot tick everything on the check list, at least you know you tried, right?

Post card from / SeoulList / #Annyeonghakero

Summer reminds me of catchy K-POP songs that keep on playing over and over again. Last year, I finally went back to Seoul (after 3 years!) to watch BIGBANG 10th Year Anniversary Concert. I miss everything about Seoul – the food, the transportation, the people (oppas!)... Eventho I didn't spend a much time there, only 5 days or so, but thank God I managed to eat at my favorite places.

I shared with you few times back then (check out my tagged post #KeroTravelSeries) where to go in Korea, but in this post I will list out everything on where to go. I'm going to Seoul again this November, and then I shall update the list again

Let's start!

Career / The Executive / Part 2

Back again with Career Post with sergeantkero! LOL. How's your week everyone? Hopefully each and one of you are doing great!

Thank you all for a very warm feedback on this career section with me. Again, I'm still learning myself, I'm not yet a professional and master in what I do, so let's share if you have any other opinions on the comment section below, OR DM me on instagram :)

So.. What was it the last time I write about? Oh, I started working in Debenhams. It wasn't a big role that I have at first, yet I was very happy. I was given the privilege to run the accounts, being creative, even did this DEBENHAMS Blogger Styling Competition with my fellow blogger friends, that you can still read on my blog (thank you Kak Diana, Anaz, Olin, Sonia, and Mich Koes – for always supporting and helping me...) It's very important for us human beings, to feel trusted. That's why it's also very important to feel trust at work. When your boss trusts your work, your life will be so much easier and it's good for your self confidence too! Be confident with your self and your work.

Career advice: Find a role in a company where you can grow, don't be someone who get told around what to do. Have initiatives, speak out your ideas, observe, and help your team – remember, working in a company means you are working with and for someone else. You will always need other people's help. I know sometimes it's easier to do everything by yourself, but you have your job scopes, and they have their job scopes. So follow it through.

About applying for jobs – don't worry about sticking in your major too much – it's important to find your passion first, and go after it.

But after working at Debenhams for a while.. I decided to quit in end of 2012, because I wanted to go to Korea to learn new language.

Yeah no, I loved Bigbang so much so I moved to Korea for a year. Aside from full time fangirling, I also got enrolled in Yonsei University to learn new language in a hope I can work for YG. LULZ.

I was 22 when I quit my first job – moved to Seoul for a year in 2013. Was one of the best years of my life – I didn't get to work at YG however I managed to: be in G-Dragon's – Who You Music Video (hell yeah! Was one of hundreds of fans who went to the filming, was pre-picked online on VIP4 website). I am very proud of this – my fangirling days are definitely another story to tell.

the prettiest seoul sky ever during that filming day
yup... it happened
Anyways, I khilaf and in 2014 I got back, finally settling down in Jakarta. Why? As simple as I was single and got no boyfriend. FYI, my dream at that time was to get married at 25, how was I supposed to get married at 25, but no bf yet? So I must go home and find cute boy leh. LOL

Pinstripes Monday

DRESS Bel.Corpo // BLAZER Reves Studio // SHOES Celine // BAG Loewe

Who said wearing clothes to work have to be boring? With the right versatile pieces, you can totally upgrade your look.

It's no big secret that I love outerwears – especially blazers. LOVE them. Why? With blazers, their cut and shape is pretty much formal. However, pairing them with let's say t-shirts and jeans, your look can be totally casual.  Not only jeans, you can also wear shorts even! Different pieces, different style.

So back to office look, I had an event last Thursday – so decided to put on this Bel Corpo dress. Totally love it since the first time, and when I put it on – instant love affair. Good fabric, and what made me fall in love more is the pattern play and hem cut at the bottom. Pinstripe is also a really cool pattern that is totally acceptable for corporate looks. Still look formal but not too heavy. Key style: navy/white pinstripes are the best.

Getting Inked

Tatoos. Some might think it's something taboo, others might think of it as an art, a statement, or even a reminder. Few (or maybe a lot) got them on a drunk night or after losing a bet.

For me, tattoos have always been something that I want to have. Maybe along time ago, I might think of it as a tramp stamp, but as time goes by and as I grow older.. Well, blame on fashion magazines and the internet, I found them becoming a fashion statement. Especially when those pics of Freja's float tattoo surfaced. MAN! I am hooked. If you search "Freja Beha" on google, her tattoos will be on her related search. She is my number one lesbian crush and my fav model and she has 16 tattoos. I think the most famous one would be this "float" tattoo, as it is the most visible one, and maybe 5-7 years ago during fashion week – street style photographers were swarming to take her pictures

Career / The Beginning / Part 1

This post was first drafted in January 2017.

Hello guys! Right now I'm writing from Changi Airport! I'm in Singapore for 2 days for a work trip for CELINE –which is very special, cus it's my first work trip overseas with the current company I'm working for.

Another thing what makes it very special because in these 2 days, I'm feeling something that I haven't been feeling for a very long time. I feel very content with my life. The last time I felt it was like 2 years ago when I met my current boyfriend. It's not that I don't feel grateful for the past 2 years, I'm grateful for a lot of things, but this 'content' feeling – how to put it? It's different.

In this post, I would like to share with you the first part of my career story – hope it's not too long and let's hope I can keep my mind focus writing this (not jumping around to other topics). I'm not saying I'm a professional in giving career advice – however since lots of you have been asking on Insta about my career thus... I will share with you my opinion, you can either agree or disagree but let's discuss nevertheless :)

Post card from / Kyoto part 2

Fushimi Inari
Remember Memoirs of a Geisha? If you haven't watched it – you should watch it. I've been a fan of Japanese culture like since forever, from manga, anime, to geisha – all those cultural related stuff. I love it. Everything is so well put together, meaningful, neat, like everything has its own purpose.

There's a scene in the movie where Chiyo – running through these orange gates, ever since then I wanna do the same thing. I wanna run! And so I did. These orange gates can be seen at Fushimi Inari Shrine. How to get there? Very easy. Just take taxi – LOL (but taxi in Kyoto is much cheaper compared to Tokyo). There's a  JR station at Fushimi Inari, so it's so easy to find it.

There are 2 gates, make sure you go to main one – there's a big gate, some modern building and you will arrive to the temple, then you can find the big map. You can see where you should go, lots of stairs and then you will find those 'smaller, tighter' orange gates where Chiyo run passed by.

Post card from / Kyoto Part 1

Konnichiwa everyone! I just got back from my Japan trip this morning at 4AM in the morning – at first I was like "4AM are you serious?" but after realising that the Ramadhan break is almost over, people will be swarming the airport, nah uh – 4AM was indeed the perfect time to come home. This morning, the airport, traffic going back home were empty. It only took me around 15 mins to get home. Went straight to bed once I got home.
7 days, 6 nights – Started my #kerotravelseries with Kyoto. There was no direct flight to Kyoto, so we went to Osaka first and took a train to Kyoto. Travel tips: you don't need to buy your train tickets in Jakarta, you can just buy it on the spot. This way you can avoid missing your train, just in case you got delayed (which happened to me) – train station is directly connected to the airport terminal (only 2 minutes walk!). Price was around 3000 yen if I'm not wrong – you can buy either reserved seats or the regular seats. Price difference prolly twice of the regular seat tickets. Reserved seats means you don't need to worry about your seat location, you can stick together with your group. Regular seats, you will need to find your own seat.

Rodarte in Full Bloom

Photographed by Jason Lloyd-Evans for VOGUE.com
As a florist, seeing flowers being turned into something very interesting is something that really please my eyes. Especially like when Jonathan Anderson made a LOEWE Calendar filled with super cool flower arrangements shot by Steven Meisel, or when Dries Van Noten had "frozen flowers" on the runway similar like what Raf Simons did when he was still in Jil Sander. Anyways, flowers are pretty.

Back to Rodarte, they just debuted their first runway in Paris! Usually they would have their shows in New York during NYFW, but this time, Rodarte (and Proenza Schoulder) decided to take it to city of love. And boy, it did not disappoint.

That Little Black Dress

Dress KURO // Jacket ALAND // Shoes MARC JACOBS
Bag LOEWE // Sunglasses GENTLE MONSTER

Often we wear black because it's the easiest decision. However, little black dress is more than just an easy piece. It is truly a classic, and with the right styling.. There are so many look that you can create for multiple events.

Few years back, I almost had no black outfit. I don't really like to wear black, because I think it's too depressing. However, eventho I didn't like black, I still loved black dresses. I was so into that 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' idea. It's so classy – back then and now, my style identity still remain the same. I always like that cool sense, feminine yet boyish look. Pairing up cool pieces with totally classic item is something that I always like to do.

So for instance, this very feminine flare cut black dress from KURO – I chose a vintage pink denim jacket that I got few years back in Aland Korea (need to put some pins, cus they're sick!). What to wear? Not heels, but a pair of white sneakers. Really love how it looks at the end... What do you think? You can also match it with bomber jackets or even blazers...

For a different occasion, of course you can still wear that little black dress with just a simple pointed toe heels (they make your legs look longer!)...

#REVESxKERO

Few months back, I was— and still am honored to launch my first collaboration collection with Reves Studio. I believe that many of you should have known Reves by now, if not, let me introduce you to the dynamic duo behind the label. Both name Karina, started Reves with the purpose of dressing women with the essential designs to look sophisticated and classy. No doubt these two girls have won women heart with their signature designs (fyi, they always have suits and signature white shirts in every collection!), they have also won Cleo Fashion Award last year throughout their journey in the fashion industry –they sure are the dream team !

The collaboration collection focuses silhouettes and semi-fitted fittings. The designs mostly suit working attire with a selection of basic and essential colors that can be easily matched for your day-to-day OOTD. Why suits? Cus I love them, I love how I can wear my suits for either formal or casual events. You can check the full collection here. If you notice, every look has v-neck line– cause it's my favorite neck line as it shows a little bit without giving too much exposure. When we did the designs, the outerwear are easily styled, can be worn multi-way ! what’s not to like about that?

Finally I wanna say thank you to REVES Studio team again, thank you for making me a part of this journey, such a mile stone in my life! You can buy the collection straight at revesstudio.com OR Galeries Lafayette! Thank you everyone for your immense support! Much love xo

#cottoninkdenim

So me and other 5 super cool girls – Alika, Patt, Nadine, Saffron, and Rahajeng got the chance to be the face of #cottoninkdenim campaign! So exciting....! We were all dressed in super basic and casual clothes by Cotton Ink. Gotta say I have my eye on this super light blue mom jeans (I'm a sucker for high waisted jeans and straight cuts)

Watch the BTS below

To be honest for me, it's really hard to find a good jeans. I found all the jeans that I have are too big ? But when I tried them on in the store, it fit just find. I have no idea why, but anyways.. I have some of my fav jeans all of them are high-waisted because I don't like butt cracks and you don't want people to see it.

How I style my jeans really simple, I like to pair it with white t-shirt or crisp shirt. Depending on what occasion you're going to, if it's a casual setting – you can just go t-shirt jeans and coverse combo. If it's slightly  trendy setting, I'll go with t-shirt jeans blazer/jacket and pointed pumps. If it's my work setting, I'll go with jeans, top with some details and a statement shoes. It's really crucial to have at least 1 good jeans in your closet – it's a very essential piece, you can wear it daily and just do whatever you want

V-Day and Chill

  • It's Valentine's Day ! For me it's a hectic weekend, Studio Jiro was packed with orders (thank you everyone for the support!) and even tho we were feeling a bit under the weather, Thank God we still managed to pull everything off.

Whether you have a fancy dinner planned, i hate valentines day dinner planned, who cares? What matter most today is that you love your life. Don't forget to love yourself, always strive to do better. (HAHA) Anyways, don't forget to show some love and appreciation to those you love, maybe it's your boyfriend, best friends, parents, or even TTMs. We know how tough life is, it's important to remind those who are special to us that they really are. And honestly, who doesn't love flowers?

Anyways, IF I don't have any dinner planned tonight, I would be watching my favorite movies - and here's a list for all of you what to watch tonight. It's a random mix of Korean Drama and romcom movies. Enjoy and have a sexy Valentine's Day XX

  • A LOT LIKE LOVE

Played by Ashton Kutcher and Amanda Peet tells a story about how fun and effortless a relationship should feel. I always tell myself that I want to feel that kind of relationship where you can totally be yourself and making fun of each other. And those scenes under the moon... so pretty

  • 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU

You have HEATH LEDGER in this movie, what else are you waiting for? It's funny, full of sarcastic remarks. I love love love love it.

  • WEIGHTLIFTING FAIRY KIM BOK JOO

This is my current favorite Korean drama. It's very light and you just want to laugh all the time, also the kind of relationship I want in life. It's very heartwarming and omg NAM JOO HYUK is so cute I can't. Btw me and ren do this all the time HAHAHAHA. To watch this drama you can watch it here

  • HOW TO LOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS

Another rom-com. It's just so funny, and I'm pretty sure when you do actually do the list here you'll end up losing your guy on step 3. Oh, Kate Hudson in that yellow dress is just loveeeeee

  • THE LITTLE MERMAID

I'm a huge Disney fan and Ariel is my favorite Disney princess. Sometimes I wish I were a mermaid so I can be friends with all the fishes and see all the wonders underwater.

  • CATCH ME IF YOU CAN

I love young Leonardo Di Caprio and this movie is just so smart and so entertaining. I find story line about conmans, detectives, lawyer are so interesting maybe that's why I really like this next tv show

  • SUITS

Harvey Specter is just UGH! I mean confident but fragile and his bromance with Mike is one of the reasons why you should watch the series. and Sassy Donna.. loveeee!!! Their wardrobe for the show is also very sharp. me likey!

  • MARIE ANTOINETTE

My favorite Sofia Coppola's movie. Everything here is just so pretty – and I just love Marie Antoinette's story. It's very captivating and how she was beheaded at the age of 37 is just tragic. I love Coppola's art direction here, very different with Virgin Suicides. It's lighter, colorful, and more fun with dark edges too.

  • CENTER STAGE

My mom took me to watch this movie and I fell absolutely in love with it. It's my number one favorite dance movie and after this comes Bring It On and Step Up. I've always been a fan of ballet, hello who doesn't read Mari Chan? I've always wanted to be a ballerina, I wish I had learn ballet when I was still a little girl. I found them so graceful, elegant and poise. Loveeeeeeee!

Rustica

I am beyond excited as I share this news to all of you – another milestone ticked in my life. As none of you might know, I'm a huge fan of scented candles, perfumes, you name it. I love sniffing those lovely smell. So on this Valentine's Day, Studio Jiro decided to collaborate with Duft and Chandelle – one of my favorite scented candle brand from Indonesia.

I'm a huge fan of Duft and Chandelle, I have like 5 candles in total. I did bulk buying once for my colleagues cus they love it so much. So on this collaboration, Sherly and I we picked peony as our base scent because we like how peonies smell. It's everyone's and our favorite. The smell is delicate, pretty, and not too strong. We try to make this scent resonates Jiro's personality – moody, feminine, undone, and most importantly rustic. So we put oud on top of our mix, and in just one go we found our favorite scent: RUSTICA! If you want to buy it, you can LINE '@studiojiro' (dont forget the @) for inquiries. We'll be selling the candle for 220k each. But on this Valentine's Day, we have a package along with the flowers so you can get the candle for a very special price.

On Sunday We Wear Pink

Happy Sunday guys! Wishing you all of you a positive and great week ahead! Next week will be a busy week as we're entering Valentine period. So those of you who are still looking for a florist, don't forget to place your order for that loved one with Studio Jiro. We're still accepting orders until 7 Feb.

Anyways, today was a pretty good day – went to the church in the morning, had dim sums for brunch and lunch. Spent time with my family and friends. Need to do few arrangements for tomorrow's orders and I'm ready for the new week.

I think on Friday last week, we discovered that Riccardo Tisci – Givenchy Creative Director exits the brand. I was in shock –really didn't know that it's going to happen like now. I think the fashion business are in shake with how the industry and trends are going. There are so many designers quitting the brand and moving around. Clare from Chloe also stepped down in the same week. Brands are changing directions and going towards the more street-lux look, brands hiring young and hip designers (e.g Demna from Vetements for Balenciaga), Supreme doing collab with Louis Vuitton (super smart business move), I've been feeling that Givenchy needs to create something again like what they did with the Rottweiler sweats, Nightingale bags, and studs –but didn't expect Tisci to exit this fast, he also didn't finish the women's FW17 collection, so there will be no Givenchy show in March. I'm really anxious and excited of the new era of Givenchy. Who will be the next successor? I kinda wish that a female designer would lead the team and give that feminine touch. Who do you think will take the reign?

Anyways, wore this skirt today and it's so comfy, and what would we love more other than pockets?
